Macedonian Ministry of Interior Affairs, report: 1-7

Some conclusions that can be pointed out from the first questionnaires received from the border police officers (see also reference below) are that it is evident that station "Markova noga" has the highest percentage of participation in the collected questionnaires whereas other stations like "Stenje" and "Zirovnica" have only sent one questionnaire but represent 30% of the whole positive answers of lynx signs. More than 70% of the questionnaires were negative in regard to lynx observations.

Заштита на Балканскиот рис. Курс за припадниците на граничната полиција.
(with English summary)
Macedonian Ministry of Interior Affairs, report: 1-6.

The integration of the border police officers as target group to enlarge the network of people involved in the Balkan lynx conservation is important as they are directly in the field, covering the majority of the Balkan lynx distribution range. Also, they are in everyday contact with locals which can be of help for raising public awareness. This training, organized by the Macedonian Ministry of Interior Affairs on February 9, 2006 in Ohrid, aimed to present the European Green Belt Initiative as well as activities for the conservation of lynx in Macedonia. Questionnaires were prepared for the border police to report any sign of lynx presence.
