I am an avid tiger conservationist. In Nepal, for more than two decades, I have monitored tigers to understand their ecology, behavior and meta-population structures. While studying the meta-population structure of tigers in the human-dominated landscape throughout the Terai of Nepal, I realized the importance of understanding the human dimensions of tiger conservation. For my PhD, I studied the ecological and sociological aspects of human and tiger conflicts. To mitigate the conflicts and to save the tigers, support and collaboration of local people is critical. Therefore, my interest has been on participatory conservation where local people are engaged in management and monitoring of tiger and tiger habitats.
