Most of my professional efforts are focused on the Persian leopard in the Middle East. I conducted independent research and, since 2002, I work with the Armenian branch of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in large mammal monitoring and biodiversity conservation in (un)protected areas where the Persian leopard is an inseparable flagship. In 2012-2022, I also worked at University of Göttingen, Germany to delve into human co-existence with predators, including leopards in Iran, and the effectiveness of livestock protection interventions. I supervised MSc and PhD students studying leopards in Iran, cougars in the USA, and snow leopards in Nepal.
