Cat SG Members Tanzania

I am a career carnivore biologist working and residing in Tanzania (East Africa), and working with the Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute-a government Institution for wildlife research. I hold a PhD in Conservation Biology (2009) and work as a Principal Research Officer, in charge of large carnivore, especially lions. I am also the National Carnivore Coordinator for Tanzania on the Range-Wide Conservation Programme for Cheetah & Wilddog Project by the Zoological Society of London. I am a member expert of the SSC Cat specialist group and African lion working group (ALWG) and lead member of CITES/CMS scientific authority for Tanzania. I have 22yr +experience in research and management of lions in Tanzania, with expertise in the areas of population & demographic assessment, harvest evaluation & monitoring, conservation translocation & reintroduction and Human-carnivore conflict management. Current projects and activity include conducting long-term ecological studies on the Serengeti lions under the Serengeti Lion Project, Serengeti ecosystem Tanzania, Human-lion conflict assessment in the Selous ecosystem, Tanzania, Bigcat Trophy harvest monitoring & evaluation with the Ministry of Natural Resources & Tourism, Tanzania and coordination of the National Assessment for Carnivores Tanzania programme.
