Working in the zoo profession since 1986, I have been a zookeeper, educator, animal curator, conservation programs director and zoo director.  My cat-related work focuses on jaguars, particularly Mexico and Central America but with several connections in South America, as well. I have worked on the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Jaguar Species Survival Plan since its inception in 1996, and have been both studbook keeper and program coordinator since 2006.  I am the editor of the AZA Jaguar Care Manual; and presently serve on the AZA Felid Taxon Advisory Group steering committee. Other professional activities include having chaired the AZA Bear Taxon Advisory Group and the AZA Animal Population Management Committee.  I have been on AZA’s Ethics Board and presently serve on its Government Affairs Committee and Accreditation Commission.
