During the last 35 years I carried out applied research on the Iberian lynx in Spain. I estimated distribution and population numbers, and reconstructed the dynamics of its geographic range, inferring the factors of decline. I studied supplementary feeding as a conservation tool and forecasted lynx demography under a climate change scenario. I investigated Iberian lynx ecology, advised public agencies in developing conservation measures, and collaborated in the production of a number of conservation plans. I use molecular methods to monitor populations and to infer lynx behaviour. I also study some aspects of the ecology of the European wildcat.
