Brian C. R. Bertram
Member since 1980.
I studied lions and leopards in woodlands in the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania from 1969 to 1973, following George Schallers initial study, establishing the long-term records of lions (and cheetahs) there, and pioneering extensive use of radio-tracking techniques with these species in East Africa. As Curator of Mammals at London Zoo from 1980 to 1987 I was closely involved with the management of cats in captivity.
