For 25 years I have been working on biodiversity conservation, particularly across West, Central and the Horn of Africa. Currently employed by the University of Oxford, I have authored ~100 professional and scientific publications, including the IUCN Red List assessment for the lion. With an interdisciplinary conservation science background, I have focused on human-wildlife conflict, protected area management, sustainable development and capacity strengthening. I have managed field programs in various countries. My career has been a mix of science, management and policy engagement, reflecting a combination of analytical, communication and networking skills. I’m passionate about people and wildlife in Africa, knowing that socio-economic development and sustainable natural resource management go hand in hand.
