Gareth Mann
Panthera
I am the Director of Panthera's Leopard Program, based in Cape Town, South Africa. I completed my PhD on leopards in the semi-arid, mountainous Little Karoo region of South Africa, before joining Panthera in 2015. My main field of expertise is leopard monitoring, having helped to establish and run surveys to assess leopard population status and trend across southern Africa. I have also contributed to Panthera’s work on the Arabian leopard. His passion lies in using applied research to guide conservation policy and management, particularly when addressing the economic and social challenges of extending conservation activities beyond protected areas.
