I am a conservation scientist with a research focus on the effectiveness of protected areas, development of monitoring tools and frameworks, and a better understanding of human-wildlife conflict and poaching. I am currently a Research Fellow at Humboldt-University Berlin, Germany, involved in Persian leopard research in the Caucasus and snow leopard conservation in Central Asia. Since 2007, I have been engaged with leopard conservation in southwest Asia, especially Iran. I am a co-assessor of leopard, caracal and Afro-Asiatic wildcat status for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. I also have involvement in the conservation of Asiatic cheetah and manul.
