Nazerke Bizhanova
I have been studying the biology and spatial and behavioral ecology of rare carnivores and other mammals in the mountains of Kazakhstan since 2015. I began my research on the Eurasian lynx in 2018, mainly focusing on the spatial distribution, habitat suitability, activity patterns, systematics, and threats identification of this species and especially its vulnerable subspecies, the Turkestan lynx, in protected areas of Kazakhstan and neighboring Central Asian countries. I received my PhD degree in Biology in 2023 from al-Farabi Kazakh National University. I am the lead assessor of the Turkestan lynx for the Red Data Book of Kazakhstan (2024). I have experience in snow tracking, camera trapping, data collection, spatial data analysis, and morphometry.
