Erik Olson
Associate Professor of Biology & Natural Resources, Northland College
I have been involved in felid conservation throughout the Americas focusing specifically on jaguars, pumas, and numerous small felids. As a self-proclaimed interdisciplinary ecologist, I examine key issues in carnivore conservation from conservation conflict to population dynamics, from human attitudes to life history. As a professor, I teach courses relevant to felid conservation including: Conservation of Large Carnivores, Wildlife Ecology & Management, Conservation Biology, Wildlife Handling & Immobilization, Wildlife Techniques, and Carnivore Tracking. In 2015, I co-founded the JaguarOsa Project in Costa Rica, a wildlife conservation and monitoring project designed to support conservation decision-making within multiple National Parks.
