One of the most colorful examples of engaging local people in protection lion populations is the Maasai Olympics. The biennial event gives Maasai _morans_, or warriors, in the Kilimanjaro landscape an avenue to demonstrate their physical prowess through sport rather than a traditional lion hunt. |
