The presence of the wildcat in Val di Cecina
2016  Full Book

21 camera trapping sites were used in the three protected areas during the 2014-2015 period, only 6 have provided 19 cat useful events. In some cases, (3) accurate identification (domestic- wild or hybrid distinction) was not possible owing to the poor quality of the scanned document. In the remaining cases, it is assumed to be _Felis s. silvestris. _Moreover, on March 8, 2015 a roadkill carcass of a cat was recovered in the area of Montecastelli (Pi). Samples were taken for any genetic analysis. However, even in the absence genetic and morphometric support, the scoring mantle leads to the diagnosis of _Felis s. silvestris_.
