Some cultural contexts of the jaguar in the Colombian Caribbean

A quick review of some of the Caribbean archaeological contexts related to the figure and image of the jaguar that highlight the importance of this symbol from ancient times in the country and the region. The Caribbean is described as a special region where many cultures in different periods were collecting "the jaguaridad" concept as a structural element of the pre-hispanic indigenous thought, which also demonstrates a multifaceted social cultural organization, since it acts as a catalyst and tote in the spheres of aboriginal ancestral worldview in most of the continent. The paper reviews some aspects of jaguaridad from the archaeological, ethnohistorical and ethnographic evidence.
