Conservation of Pallas's cat _Otocolobus manul_ in Annapurna Conservation Area, Nepal
2018  Conference Proceeding

Pallas's Cat _Otocolobus manul_ is distributed throughout Central Asia including parts of the Himalayas. To date it has been recorded in Nepal only in the Nyesyang Valley of Manang district in Annapurna Conservation Area. However, a photograph of this cat's skin in 1987 in Ngawal village of Manang confirms the species's historical presence in the region (Lama et al. 2016). Due to its elusive nature, occurrence in rugged terrain and lack of research, it remained undiscovered until the first cameratrap records in 2012. Intensive grazing, prey base decline, and habitat loss are possible threats to this species in Nepal.
