Puma predation on a water buffalo
2010  Mammalia (74): 431-432

Having the widest distribution of any terrestrial mammal in the Americas, pumas (_Puma concolor_) (Linnaeus, 1771 ) are known to prey on an array of wild and domestic prey species. Despite preying on a variety of domestic stock such as cattle, goat, sheep, swine, and horses, puma predation on water buffalo (_Bubalus bubalis_) has never been reported. Here we document an observation of a puma preying on a water buffalo.
