Presence of _Bartonella_ species in wild carnivores of Northern Spain

The genus _Bartonella_ was detected by PCR in 5.7% (12/212) of wild carnivores from Northern Spain. Based on hybridization and sequence analyses, _Bartonella henselae_ was identified in a wildcat (_Felis silvestris_), _Bartonella rochalimae_ in a red fox (_Vulpes vulpes_) and in a wolf (_Canis lupus_), and _Bartonella_ sp. in badgers (_Meles meles_).
