Range shift by a female bobcat after removal of neighboring female
1995 The American Midland Naturalist (134): 409-412
We observed a spatial shift and changes in resource use by a resident female bobcat (Lynx rufus) (F07) in northwestern Wisconsin after hunters removed a neighboring resident female (F04). Through this shift, F07 increased its use of lowland coniferous forests, while decreasing use of less productive habitats. The ability of resident female bobcats to adapt to vacancies in local social systems may have reproductive implications in exploited populations. |
