Pleistocene Felidae from the Kudaro paleolithic cave sites in the Caucasus

The Kudaro Paleolithic site complex in Southern Ossetia includes five species of felids: _Panthera onca gombaszoegensis, P. spelaea, P. pardus, Felis silvestris _and possibly _Lynx lynx_. The fossil jaguar _P. onca gombaszoegensis _was identified from the lowest stratigraphic level of the Middle Pleistocene (Likhvian = Holsteinian Interglacial). Remains of _P. pardus _and _Felis silvestris _were recovered from all layers. _Panthera spelaea _and _Lynx lynx _represent northern migrants appeared there at the end of the Middle Pleistocene and Late Pleistocene respectively.
