This document was prepared at the request of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) Secretariat as a follow up to a resolution adopted at the 11th Conference of the Parties to CMS in Quito, November 2014. It aims to provide background information for the review of regional lion conservation strategies mentioned in article 1 of that resolution and for the meeting mentioned in article 4. It is provided to the Secretariat for distribution to Parties, in partial fulfilment of article 5 of the Resolution. The objective of the document is to assist Parties to CMS in their individual and collective decision making on processes and mechanisms that they wish to progress in response to a proposed CMS Annex II listing of_ Panthera leo_. |
