Statistical ecology of Sundarbans tiger
1984 Tigerpaper: 29-31
The tigers of the Sundarbans are a "myth", yet their size can be determined. There is no rule of thumb to ascertain the size of a Sundarban tiger as can be done in the case of measuring the height of an Indian elephant from the circumference or diameter impression of a footprint of its for toe. So far there is no method for measuring the length of tigers from their pugmarks. But such a method is absolutely necessary in the forests where tigers can rarely be sighted let alone killed or found dead. |
