Wildlife Conservation Society Russia Program - Annual Report 2014 | |
2014 Full Book | |
The projects undertaken by WCS in Russia represent a combination of practical on-the-ground protection in tandem with biological and ecological research and training to guide longer term conservation strategies. This past year has been a very active and exciting one for us, and we could not have done it without institutional and individual support. In 2014, we saw anti-poaching intensity increase at key protected areas, we saw five young tigers rehabilitated and released back into the wild, we continued to learn how infectious disease impacts tiger populations, we documented remarkable tiger population growth at Sikhote-Alin Reserve and an increase in Amur leopards at Land of the Leopard National Park, we continued our fire management and Blakiston's fish owl projects, and we worked with graduate students to ensure a future of capable conservationists helming the recovery and continued survival of Russia's tigers, leopards, and other wildlife. |
