Medium and large mammals in the Biological Reserve of Arauc rias, Paran
2018  Boletim da Sociedade Brasileira de Mastozoologia (83): 140-145

Brazilian fauna and flora are being threatened by deforestation and forest fragmentation, as well as the Atlantic Forest biome, which is a world conservation hotspot, with only 4% of the geographic coverage of the original forest protected in reserves. Although the Atlantic Forest detains most of the studies in communities, there are still gaps without even an inventory of species. In order to inventory medium and large mammals in the Araucarias Biological Reserve (PR), from July 2014 to May 2017, methodologies were used to search for direct (visualization) and indirect (camera traps, footprints, feces, animals dead). There were records of 30 species of mammals, including three invasive species (_Canis lupus familiaris, Lepus europaeus and Sus scrofa_) and a small one (_Guerlinguetus brasiliensis_). The species were classified as threatened, and 36.6% of the species are classified in some category of threat, standing out _Cuniculus paca_ that is classified as "endangered" for the state of Paran . The present study contributes to the knowledge of biodiversity, providing important information that can be used in structuring the management plan and in conservation measures to be adopted in the unit.
