Evaluation of the water quality and quantity of the drinking water management boards of the canton Mont£far for the design of an improvement plan and proper use
2015  Full Book

The Mont£far canton faces problems of availability, waste and water pollution; the sectional government responsible for water supply faces problems when providing adequate service especially in the rural area of the canton, for this is why communities have organized the creation of 34 Water Management Committees that are distributed in the seven villages, but despite the need, their performance has not been efficient and has both administrative and operational problems, a situation that causes their services not to be optimal thus affecting the welfare of consumers directly. The Decentralized Autonomous Government of the "Canton Municipal Mont£far" suggests to realize a study to determine the quality and quantity of drinking water from the Water Management Committees to solve one of the existing problems in the rural villages of the town. Through which an inventory about the JAAP, water sources and locations of systems of drinking water was made, with the collaboration of the members of the directives of each system. It was possible to determine a variety of flora and fauna at the place, which is mainly due to the variety of vegetation result of the influence of the two existing types of climates: equatorial High Mountain and semi-humid mesothermal equatorial, which have direct influence on water sources. One of the main contributions of this research is the ecological and hydrological zoning, very important for proper management of natural and water resources. The most relevant results in terms of water quality were 70% of JAAP physic-chemical parameters are within established standards (INEN 1108 and TULSMA); unlike microbiological analyzes which are mostly contaminated by total and fecal (Escherichia coli) coliforms. With regard to the amount of water after analyzing 155 the existing flow and calculated projection within the next 25 years, the village would not present deficit, unlike costs and rate than in more remote systems, there is a delinquency rate that affects the operation and maintenance of the systems. After analyzing all the aspects before mentioned, a proper improvement plan was proposed, which consists of four programs, eight subprograms with their respective projects and measures; its implementation and adoption of sustainable solutions allows contribution to the welfare of the population and ensure the quality and quantity of water.
