Anwar, M.
Status of tiger and its associated prey species in selected corridors and areas of Terai Arc Landscape
2019  Full Book

Present study provided information on abundance and density of tiger, associated prey species and status of selected corridors. High turnover in the population (Mt + 1) of tigers in Ramnagar FD was recorded between 2010 and 2014. Therefore, it is important to study selected tigers using radio-telemetry in Ramnagar FD and surrounding forest divisions of western circle which is home to more than 100 tigers. Radio-telemetry will provide information on ranging pattern, dispersal, survivorship, which are crucial for their management in the TAL. So far, no such study is available from the India portion of TAL in general and from outside PA in particular. Corridors need to be brought under special legal status to prevent its further degradation, fragmentation and loss of habitat due to encroachment and developmental activities. There is a need to develop corridor management plans for its maintenance and restoration.
