Hair identification assumes great significance in wild life forensic science, since animal that has been poached can be identified through microscopical examination of hair. Further, other details such as sex, geographical distribution of the animal, sub species status, time of the year when it was poached etc, can be obtained from microscopical analysis of hair. Keeping these in view, this study was undertaken for developing a key for identification of tiger of Brahmaputra valley on regional basis using morphometry, optical and scanning electron microscopy. |
