Population and behavioural studies on _Panthera pardus fusca_ in the Aravalli Hills of southern Rajasthan

The present study on population and behavioural study on Panthera pardus fusca (Indian Panther) in the Aravalli Hills of Southern Rajasthan was carried out from November 2014 to October 2018 (4 years) covering three different seasons viz. winter (November to February), summer (March to June) and monsoon (July to October) with following objectives: - To identify and locate habitats of Panthers in the southern Rajasthan - Ecological studies of the Panthers in the study areas. - Population studies, length-weight relationships, food and feeding habits and association and assemblage studies of the Panthers. - Causes of decline and conservation methods of Panthers. - Evaluation of population status of Panthers in a specifically defined area. - Mapping the distribution of Panthers at a regional scale by GIS and Remote Sensing method. - Generate habitat relations or spatially-explicit population viability models. - Evaluate what proportion of an area is occupied by Panthers. - Compare the abundance of Panthers between areas. - Monitor Panther population density or relative abundance in a given area over the time. - Evaluate the impacts of prey or habitat change on Panther presence, relative abundance or density.
