A conservation strategy for large carnivores in Canada (Section 2, Chapter 3)

The goal of this Conservation strategy is to conserve viable wild populations of large carnivores in Canada. To accomplish this goal, the following strategic steps need to be undertaken: 1) Determine Population Conservation Goals 2) Establish Carnivore Conservation Areas 3) Control Direct Human-Caused Mortality 4) Control Impacts on Habitat 5) Strengthen Public Education 6) Strengthen Conservation Research 7) Improve Jurisdictional Cooperation. This document outlines methods and measures to be taken in order to achieve these steps, and makes recommendations on concrete actions for each specific species.
