Man-eating Tigers | |
1985 Manuscript | |
These recent incidents reinforce the image of the tiger as a bloodthirsty man-eater, and have been a matter of deep concern to conservationists. Elephants killed 53 people in six months recently around the Manas sanctuary in northeast India, and lions, leopards; bears and snakes all take a human toll. But to many people the tiger is the epitome of the jungle red in tooth and claw. It is scarcely surprising, for the world has been regaled with tales of bloodthirsty tigers for serval centuries. |
