Information on the ecology and geographical distribution of the spotted cat in Uzbekistan

The spotted cat Felis (Felis) ornata Gmelin, 1791 is an important representative of our fauna, an object of the fur industry; it is widely distributed in the territory of Uzbekistan. Meanwhile, the biology of this animal in the republic has not been completely studied. In this article data will be given about the ecology of the spotted cat, collected by us from 1959 - 1962 in the territory of the republic: in the vicinity of the Kyzyl-kum Desert, the Surkhan River Valley, the Barabatag and Kurgitangtau Mountains, of the Khorezm District and Karakalpak ASSR. Also collected data will be examined which is kept in the Samarkand, Tashkent, Moscow and Leningrad zoological museums, literary information used, and data from organizations which prepare furs.
