Demographic and historical effects on genetic variation of carnivores | |
1996 Book Chapter | |
The rate and direction of evolutionary change in carnivore populations is determined basically by the dynamic interactions of gene flow, genetic drift, mutation, and selection. Carnivores with high rates of dispersal and large dispersal distances potentially have high rates of gene flow among populations if the individuals that disperse are able to reproduce. |
