1982 Int.Ped.Book of Snow leopards (3): 25-39 | |
The snow leopard or irbis is recognized as an endangered species in the USSR, and is listed as such in the Soviet Red Book. Estimates of the numbers of snow leopards remaining in the USSR very from as low as 300 to as high as 1000, but there is little doubt that the population of snow leopards has been severly reduced since the beginning of the twentieth century. |
