When we speak of carnivores we mean one of two things. The more common usage is for animals of all kinds whoese diet includes a large proportion of meat. The more restricted usage is reserved for the monophyletic order Carnivora, diagnosed on the basis of features such as the presence and position of the carnassial shearing teeth. |
