Indirect costs of play: cheetah cubs reduce maternal hunting success | |

Presents data showing that the costs of play affect young animals directly and indirectly through the effect on their parents. Data on 653 hunts by 36 cheetah () mothers with dependent cubs aged 1.5-28 mo were collected during 54 watches in the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Results show that cub play affects the hunting success of mothers. |
