Carnivore extinctions: a phylogenetic perspective
1998 Conference Proceeding
We use a complete phylogeny of extant Carnivora to address both past and likely future extinctions in the group. First, the shape of the phylogeny is consistent with threre having been a severe mass extinction in the geologically recent past: it seems that surviving carnivores are a minority of pre-human diversity. |
