1972 Ochrana Fauny (Vi(4)): 189-193 | |
From 1970-1972, the Zoological Garden of Ostrava (CSSR) provided all together 9 Carpathian lynx for reintroduction in BRD and Switzerland. Two males and females were transferred to the newly founded national park Bayerischer Wald, three males and females to the cantons of Wallis and Obwalden in Switzerland. In Switzerland, this action was organised by the inspectorate of forestry of Bern/Freiburg, but WWF took also part. In the BRD, the Bund Naturschutz in Bayern e.V. and the Zoological Society 1858 e.V. were the participants. All lynxes were captured in Slovakia, they were therefore not animals grown up in captivity. An overview on the sitation of the lynx in Czechoslovakia is given where lynx only occurrs in sufficient numbers in Slovakia. It is encouraged to allow the capture of live lynx as the only legal measure to reduce numbers in the wild. |
