Guess what's for dinner: you - How to avoid getting bit, mauled, poisoned, or otherwise dispatched

Unlike our thick-browed, hirsute ancestors, we don't have to fret about saber-toothed tigers or raging mastodons. But even though we've moved up the food chain, certain predators still nab us with alarming frequency. Thanks to extreme weather, booming animal populations, and shrinking wildernesses, this summer is poised to be the worst on record for attacks -by alligators, mountain lions, and rattlesnakes, in particular. Herewith, some strategies for avoiding these creatures and for staying alive if they get a grip on you.
