Santiapillai, C.; Suprahman, H.
On the status of the leopard cat (_Felis bengalensis_) in Sumatra
1985  Full Book

Carnivores in any ecosystem tend to be rarer than the herbivores and therefore are less likely to be encountered in the wilds. In general any study concerning the carnivores would entail enormous logistical problems and of no species is this more true than the solitary ones. In Sumatra, the dense and tangled vegetation often precludes the direct observation of even the large mammals and hence such an environment would pose even a greater challenge to anyone interested in the study of small carnivores such as the leopard cat.
