Datasheet about the pampas cat The species is mainly a terrestrial and nocturnal animal, preying on small mammals, especially guinea pigs, and ground-inhabitating birds (Guggisberg 1975). In Patagonia, it may eat Penguin chicks and eggs (D.Boersma, in Litt). It has also been known to attack domestic poultry (Guggisberg 1975). In Argentina, Rabinovich et al. (1987) found it to require small mammals for an adequate diet.
