Mongolia is inhabited by 130 species of mammals, 7 species of amphibians, 19 species of reptiles, about 370 species of birds, over 70 fish species and more than 5000 species of insects. The Red Data Book of rare plants and animals of the MPR includes 77 species of animals. 17 are specially protected by the State. including Gobian Bear and Snow Leopard. The article discusses pratical measures of protection of these species and argues that 2 more, Corsac fox and Red Wolf should by added to this list. |
