A new species, _Machairodus kurteni _is described from the late Miocene locality Kalmakpai in eastern Kazakhstan (USSR). Other Vallesian and Turolian species of _Machairodus_ during the Turolian. In the morphology of the dentition, _M. kurteni_ is intermediate between _Machariodus_ and _Homothermium_ |
