Linking education and research for the conservation of the Andean mountain cat - part 2
2002  Full Book

We carried out 28 semi-structured interviews with local people in 18 sites on the carnivores occurring in the area. The interviews, based on a written questionnaire that was not shown to the interviewees, were informally carried on by 2-3 researchers who alternated specific to more general questions. All informants were also shown 6 pictures of the 3 cat species possibly occurring in the region _(O. jacobita, Oncifelis colocolo _and _O. geoffroyi_) and asked to recognise the species sighted in the area they lived in. In order to test the validity of the answers we received, we made an effort to re-check the most important data, repeating the questions in different forms and taking note of any evident contradictions.
