Efficacy of population viability analysis
1998 Wildlife Society Bulletin (26): 244-251
Population viability analysis is an important tool for conservation biology, but we are concerned about its potential misuse. We discuss 2 concerns: (1) like all models, PVA has limitations and restrictions that often are not stated explicitly in the development of management plans, and (2) in some situations limited resources might be better used gathering data other than those used to estimate population parameters for PVA. |
