Movements and activity patterns of Radiotracked Sardinian Wildcats,_ Felis silvestris libyca _ Forster, 1780
2007  Revue d'‚cologie (La terre et al vie) (62): 381-386

The movements and activity patterns of eight Sardinian wildcats, were studied by means of radio-telemetry in a protected area in southwest Sardinia. Four females and four males were equipped with radio-collars. The individuals were followed during different periods between July 1994 and March 2002. In total, 4356 localisations were registered. We have observed a large individual variability in activity patterns and distances travelled during the night. One individual was mainly diurnal while the others were nocturnal. The distance travelled each night was smaller in females (on average 922 m) than males (1 208 m). During the summer month, the wildcats showed a general decline in their activity and movements.
