Sankhala, K.S.
The White Tigers
1969  Cheetal (12): 78-81

The white tiger _(Panthera tigris)_ is a magnificent snow-white beast with distinct or light black or ash coloured stripes, owing to the admixture of white hair. An albino or mutent! There are different opinions. Some held the view that it was an albino or at least partial-albino, but the recent study of the pedigree and genetical analysis has proved that it is a mutent .Of the known population of 34 living white tigers in the world, 26 are in India.
