Relationship between Rural Development and Hunting Tourism in Alpine Areas of Turkey
2008  Conference Proceeding

Hunting tourism has been viewed as the most important rural development activity to reduce human impact in the alpine areas. Hunting tourism started legally in 1977 and showed a rather slow progress until the late 1990s. In the last ten years, however, there has been a remarkable increase. In areas where planned and controlled hunting is organized, the share taken out of the hunting fees constitutes a major incentive and encourages villagers. However, many areas have considerable problems and have not made the expected progress due to the lack of supervision, control and qualified personnel.
