The authors retrace the steps of the great F.W. Champion (author of The Jungle in Sunlight and Shadow and With a Camera in Tigerland) in the Shivaliks of Uttaranchal. Champion was a naturalist, photographer and author whose record of India's wildlife in the early 1900s provided these researchers from the Wildlife Institute of India with rudimentary baseline data with which to compare India's rich past to its troubled present. |
