Examining the extent of human-tiger conflict in the Sundarbans Forest, Bangladesh
2010  Tiger Paper (37): 1-4

This report examines the extent of human-tiger conflict in the Sundarbans Forest of Bangladesh. Sundarban tigers have been ill-famed as man-eaters within the memory of man. However, the victims are usually very poor people, so the human-tiger conflict in the Sundarbans does not attain much attention. Our aim (for Bangladesh) was to calculate an extrapolation of the total annual numbers of tiger victims, to determine the number of unreported cases, and to estimate the percentage of victims without permission. By raising awareness of the real extent of human-tiger conflicts, the development of solutions for reducing the loss of human lives and saving tigers shall be supported.
