Taman Negara National Park (Malaysia) Tiger Protection - Final Programmatic Report for Project 2001-0152-012
2002  Full Book

There are 13 anti-poaching teams, originally established as Rhino Protection Units, but expanded to encompass protection of tigers as well, i.e., Tiger/Rhino Protection Units. These TRPUs operate specifically in remote areas of Taman Negara, its borders and the adjoining forests that extend to the Belum Perak State Park in the north and the Endau-Rompin Johore/Pahang State Parks in the south. The units have a total strength of 62 wildlife rangers and part-time workers. In general, the vehicles and equipment provided have greatly enhanced the capability of the TRPUs to contend with the poachers, both local but especially the Thais.
